Chilled cast iron is a cast, metallic blasting agent that is obtained from a molten chilled cast iron alloy and mechanically processed in various grain sizes (hardness 60 - 65 HRc). Chilled cast blasting media is intended for use in compressed air blasting systems. In the blasting process, it breaks in an angular manner and continuously releases new, sharp edges, thus guaranteeing good cleaning behaviour. Chilled cast iron is a blasting agent for, particularly hard surfaces.
